Ad Verification With Residential Proxies
· 2 min read
Ad verification is the practice of confirming that your ads, landing pages and affiliate links reach real visitors the way they are meant to. It cannot be carried out from an office network or a cloud server, for the simple reason that neither is shown what a real visitor is shown.
Why a normal connection falls short
- Ads are targeted by location. From outside the target area, the campaign is simply never served to you.
- Ad platforms filter server traffic. Datacenter IPs are excluded so that advertisers are not billed for bots, which means a cloud server frequently receives no ad at all.
- Dishonest partners hide from reviewers. A rule-breaking affiliate or a fraudulent advertiser presents a clean page to anything resembling an auditor and the real one to everybody else.
A residential IP in the target market gets past all three, since to the ad system you are just another household.
What gets checked
- Placement: the ad appears on the sites and pages that were paid for.
- Creative: the ad displayed is the approved version.
- Landing page: the click leads to the intended page, with no unexpected redirects along the way.
- Affiliate compliance: partners use the approved links and abide by your rules on brand keywords.
These checks have to be repeated. Problems are frequently shown only at certain hours or to a fraction of visitors, so one clean result proves very little.
Static or rotating
- Static residential provides one fixed, fast address. It lends itself to scheduled checks compared over time, and to campaigns that depend on a returning visitor, such as retargeting and frequency caps.
- Rotating residential provides many cities and countries, making it the better fit for verifying geo-targeting across a wide area.
More on the distinction in static vs rotating vs datacenter proxies.
The IP has to be clean
An address flagged as a proxy, or one with a poor reputation, is treated by ad systems as invalid traffic, which puts you right back to seeing nothing. See IP fraud scores explained.
What one US location covers
Our IPs are in Ashburn, Virginia. From there you see what a home broadband user on the US East Coast sees: national US campaigns, US landing pages, affiliate behaviour on US search results, and whether a page conceals its real content from non-residential traffic. Proof of delivery in a particular state or in another country requires an IP located there.
Leastslow for verification
Each proxy is a static residential IP on a US consumer ISP with no proxy history. With no fees on bandwidth, loading full pages complete with video and scripts costs nothing extra. Prices are on the homepage.
